Makerere University Kampala Administration Block burns down.

Since 1 am up to 06:00 A.M., the main building of Africa’s 5th best University – Makerere University – located in the heart of Kampala City, was still on fire.

This 3-storied building houses offices of the Vice Chancellor; Bursar; University Secretary; Directorate of Human Resources, etc as well as the Main Hall.

In its basement lies the Souvenir Shop and the Printery from where grad books etc are printed. The firebrigade is barely trying to put out the fire because it’s clearly ill-equipped and overwhelmed.

Can you imagine all of the historic information in one of the most important buildings in the country have been lost.

It’s very unfortunate. The Uganda police has started it’s investigations.

The wing that has burned done is said to be a custody of all human resource documents.
